I presently offer commissions of acrylic and oil paintings on canvas. Occasionally I accept commissions for pastel drawings on paper. All materials used in the creation of your pet's portrait are professional grade. With proper care, your pet's portrait will last a lifetime.
Canvases are handstretched cotton duck with 1.25"- 2" deep finished edges and do not need framing.
What sizes do you offer?
I've found larger canvases allow for the greatest detail and depth, and also create the most appealing end result. For this reason, sizes start at 20" x 20." Single-subject portraits are typically done on square canvases, two-subject portraits usually work best on rectangular canvases. For three or more subjects, the shape can vary depending on the species and placement.
How much does a portrait cost?
Pricing depends on the size and complexity of each portrait. For a price list, please click here to email me. Feel free to include photos and any special requests for a specific quote. I do my best to reply within 24 hours.
I'd like to commission a portrait. What now?
Contact me! Once we've agreed on the specifics of your pet's portrait, I will provide you an agreement with details of the portrait, pricing, and delivery. Once I receive the signed agreement and a 50% deposit, I begin working. When the portrait is finished, I will email you a photo of the finished piece. Upon your approval, the remaining 50% will be due and your portrait will be shipped - carefully packaged and insured. Hand delivery is available for local clients.
How long does it take?
It varies. At the moment, wait is approximately 3 months from the receipt of your deposit.
I'd like to make the portrait a gift/Christmas present. Can you have it ready by then?
Please let me know if your portrait is a gift and/or needed by a particular date; I do my best to accomodate special deadlines for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. For particularly urgent orders, an additional fee may be incurred.
How can I tell if the photos I have of my pet will work?
For tips on taking photos or deciding what photos to submit, visit my Photography Tips page. If you don't have or can't get appropriate photos, email me anyway! It may still be possible to create a portrait of your pet.
Do you have other pet-related artwork available?
Yes! I attend a handful of events throughout the year and will have a variety of fun, whimsical work available for purchase. For upcoming event information, check out the Events page.
